![]() | About 1 year ago Exclusive Sedan Service decided to put all of our Chauffeurs through the STOP Program. Since then we have noticed a decrease in accidents and minor incidents. I credit this to the knowledge of defensive driving that the Chauffeurs learned from the STOP Program. Since then we have made it mandatory for every new hire to complete and pass the stop program before they are allowed on the road. ![]() | My entire life I have spent around some type of mode of transportation. It started driving various fire fighting rigs for over 15 years in community and industrial settings and then stepping it up to 80'000 lbs tractor trailers going over the road averaging 100'000 mile a year. After settling into the chauffeured industry I kept seeing the same types of preventable accidents, regardless of the industry I was in. The most recent incident prompted me to seek a means of mitigating some of these problems. I was fed up with the chauffeurs attitude by not paying attention, being distracted by cell phones and always claiming to be the best of the best.With the help of my insurance agent, I was guided to the STOP Program they offer online. I decided to take the 12 modules and final exam to see if this could potentially quell some of the attitudes and humble the chauffeurs into recognizing that there is always room for improvement. I can honestly claim that I learned something in each module. I was pleasantly surprised at the feedback I received from my chauffeurs. Some dialog was based around questions that may not have been directly targeted towards our industry but most of the dialog was geared towards stopping distance, driving in adverse weather conditions and backing up. Exactly the issues where we had our claims. The STOP Program is a good start for any company that views safety as an integral part to their company's success. It gives a company a valid safety program which can easily expanded upon and allows the management to require all of its chauffeurs to be on the same page where it comes to an official driver safety program.
